SCOTT ROBERTSON

KICK ME PLEAS

28 November - 16 December 2022 | Artist Talk 15 December

Poster of neon sign with words 'Bright Idea' with only idea glowing.

THE WORKS

'Another Bright Idea', white neon and timer.
This work will be displayed on a coloured background. The word 'Bright' will flicker as though faulty.

'The Weight of Another's Words' Hardwood pallet, various books.
Pallet holds texts written about the artists work. Each time the piece is shown a new book is added. Books are free for visitors to take away. With time this work will become swamped by the books.

'You Have No Idea How Much This Means To Me', 18 posters, text message and postcard.
A poster has been made for each day of the exhibition. These will be in the main space with smaller versions distributed throughout the college.
Tear-off strips have a phone number. If anyone messages the number a text message will be sent to them that is considered an artwork, and if they commit to continue contact and give a postal address, a signed card will be sent to them as confirmation of their artwork.

BIO

Scott Robertson (born in Ayr) is an artist with a conceptually driven practice. He works without a fixed studio or dedicated time to his practice, and connects people and ideas together in the hope of forming something. Artwork that can be made on his phone while on the way back from working for more successful artists. Occasionally he will produce a drawing while working abroad and getting a hotel room with a desk. He also runs a small press called Fifthsyllable releasing artists books and editions.

He studied at Edinburgh College of Art, Maryland Institute College of Art, and then after many years in a variety of cheap labour jobs, competed his MA at Central Saint Martins where he has since tried desperately to keep going.
